Hi I’m Mackenzie (on the left). I am Founder, curator and creative director. I run all things creative. My favourite part of this business is having a space where individual styles are celebrated!
Hi 👋🏼 I’m Ira (on the right) I am the COO, and other half! My favourite part of this business is creating connections throughout the community!
We are the duo behind Upcycle Collective, with the help of our dedicated staff. And for us, it's about sustainable fashion, accessibility, individualism and community.
Love for clothing is an understatement. From a young age Mackenzie always had an eye for fashion and individual style. It was a natural progression for her to start selling her clothing through an online platform. The opportunity of a brick and mortar presented itself and Mackenzie did not hesitate to take it into her own hands. With the help of her mom, Mackenzie was able to build a consignment system that has been accessible to all while creating a safe space to shop and celebrate individualism. Mackenzie's drive and passion has kept this business growing and her excitement for what is to come has helped push the shop into what after two covid years it has become.
Community and connections have always been a big part of Ira's values. Being given the opportunity to be a part of Upcycle, Ira has found his role in creating an environment for everyone to be able to shop in. Clothing is a part of his self expression and being able to share his love with others has been so exciting. Ira shares his time between Upcycle and teaching. This has kept him excited for personal growth from both of these dynamic environments.
Ira & Mackenzie have found a rhythm between them for work and play. Maintaining a partnership and relationship while being in the first 5 years of business is hard to say the least. Mackenzie spends her time away from the shop figure skating & coaching with the Oak Bay Figure skating club in "Victoria" BC. She has been skating for over 20 years now and skating has truly become a grounding activity on stressful days.
Together Mackenzie and Ira bring out the best in this small business and each other. They are excited for the growth this company has experienced over that last 2 years and are looking forward to collaborating more with the community in 2023!
